Dreams are sometimes the easy means by which we cross the threshold into other realms. The supernatural can infiltrate those dreams and speak to us, to degrees that we either understand, or don’t. When we don’t the message becomes difficult to receive. Sophie clearly didn’t understand the dreams that haunted her for a year now. The same dream had terrified her, leaving her in a cold, dark, and wet place gasping for breath and seeing a strange light in the distance, and then the blackness closed in as she awoke.
Ignoring what she feared became part of her life, and it became easier now that she had something else to focus on, her ten year high school reunion. Should she go? Monica and her entourage had brutally tormented Sophie throughout high school but that wasn’t the real reason for her hesitation. She especially didn’t want to see him. To see David again would torment her the most.
All he ever did was to like her, maybe even love her though she couldn’t understand why. She viewed herself as somewhat below average, but Sophie Spinelli was a rare beauty. For years she had put him off, never allowing him to get close, keeping her world as safe as possible, never to be hurt again, until her world was turned upside down.
